supply ships in the Gulf of Riga. In Northern
Finland the Germans have dive bombed
Finnish troops. Lancasters bombing the
Tirpitz last month flew from bases in Russia.
They got a direct hit on the ship with a 12000
lbs bomb. The bombing meant a round trip
of 5000 miles and was done without loss.
The planes flew from England to Russia, refueled
and went for the ship, returning again to
Russia and later to England. Balikpapan
in Northern Borneo has been bombed. The
power station was put out of action and oil
storage tanks were hit. The Polish Premier
has ordered 14 days mourning to the Polish
troops for the battle of Warsaw. The Royal
Navy has lent a British cruiser to the Polish
navy. Spanish Republican refugees have joined
the F.F.I. The Germans in the Channel Isles
Jersey and Guernsey have been given a
chance to surrender but they refused.
Mr. Churchill will soon appoint a
Minister for Civil Aviation. He may be
a member of the House of Lords. The House
