Bombing was done by instruments. Our night bombers attacked Brunswick. Mosquitoes attacked rail and canal targets in Holland. A fierce and spirited naval action was fought off IJmuiden when our motor torpedo-boats met a strongly escorted German convoy. 2 of 3 German ships were hit and two of our motor torpedo-boats lost. We had some casualties. General Eisenhower warned Dutch islanders on the islands in the Scheldt mouth for heavy air attacks on military targets. Several radio stations on Walcheren were destroyed and Mosquitoes attacked shipping. In our drives to the Po Valley we are meeting stubborn resistance and small local gains were made. On the 8th Army front there was patrolling on both sides. German efforts to get their men away from islands in the Aegean by plane are made very costly to them. In Yugoslavia the Russians are driving on toward Niš. The Russian air force is more active in various parts of Poland. The Swedish Minister of Justice has recalled his country's decision not to allow war criminals. War reports
