unit of the Worcestershire Regiment.
The British 5th Army on the Adriatic
are pushing into the unfortified
country before Rimini with the plain
toward the Valley of the Po and Northern
Italy before them. Russia has agreed with
Finland that fighting between the Red
Army and Finnish troops should stop
this morning. Red Army forces in the
foothills of the Transylvanian Alps
hold a town only 15 miles from the
high peaks. A Soviet push is also
developing toward Yugoslavia.
Bombers from the South West Pacific
with Lightnings from an unnamed
base have struck a second heavy
blow at Japanese airfields and a
harbour at Davao City in the Philippines.
No German air activity was reported
over here last night.
