The Allies non-stop drive through France
brought them within 20 miles of Amiens.
Reims has been left 10 miles behind.
Gournay on the road to Dieppe has been
captured. 14 miles southeast of Rouen a
place has been taken.
Nice has been reached and the Americans have
passed through the town to the Italian frontier.
General Bradley now has an equal status
to General Montgomery.
Russian troops are less than 17 miles from
Bucharest. German losses before Ploesti
have been tremendous. The Russian now
hold all the airfields in the Ploesti area.
15000 more Germans have surrendered.
Since their summer offensive began the Russians
have captured 34 Generals. Red Army troops are
also less than 30 miles from the Bulgarian
frontier in many places. A Bulgarian delegation
has reached Cairo. Moscow also reports
about the Turkish attitude since Turkey broke
off relations with Germany. The Germans had to
leave before the 10th August but there are still
some 1300 Germans in Turkey. Dr. Tiso the
Slovak Premier reported fighting with the Partisans.
In Italy the river Foglia has been crossed.
