Eastern Hungary. 30 miles north of
Debrecen a town has been captured.
Russian troops are 16 miles from
the Czechoslovak frontier. In Northern
Transylvania the Germans are losing
more ground. Russian troops advancing
from the Arctic Coast beyond Petsamo
have reached the Norwegian frontier.
In Southern Hungary the thrusts of
the Soviets to the Danube has been
broadened. Wide stretches of the Hungarian
plain between Szeged and Budapest
are now under Russian control.
In Yugoslavia the Sava has been
crossed west of Belgrade. In Italy
a river west of Cesena has been crossed
on several points and the Germans
are well entrenched west of the town.
Polish troops of the left flank are advancing
slowly. The 5th Army made limited
gains all along their front. South
of Bologna 3 hill positions were taken
yesterday. In the Northern Aegean
landings have been made on Limnos
and the capital Moudros has been
