and German tanks and transport are in difficulties due to flooding. Since the capture of Bruyères German resistance has stiffened but further advances have been made. North of Belfort fighting takes place in the forests. German war industries and communications were again pounded by British and American heavies today which continued the attacks. Lancasters of Bomber Command escorted by Mustangs, without loss, attacked Neuss. Over 1100 American Flying Fortresses and Liberators escorted by some 750 fighters attacked Hamm, Munster, Hannover and Brunswick. Targets in Western Germany were also attacked by Mosquitoes last night also without loss. Today's fighters destroyed 13 railway engines and barges. There was no fighter opposition and flak was moderate. Mosquitoes of a Canadian squadron went deep into Germany this afternoon. There are more widespread Russian successes to announce.
