German supply dumps behind the
lines. In Stockholm there is much
speculation over the cut in the telephone
communications between Sweden
and Germany. Previously there have
also been cuts due to bombing for
example but the present one is the first
since the attack on Hitler and it is already
lasting 30 hours. In Northern Lithuania
the Russian have advanced 60 miles
on a front of from 150 to 200 miles. Today
the Germans report bitter fighting
against a strong enemy. For 3 days
now the Germans are attacking
against the Russian bridgehead on
the Narev. The Germans also say that the
Russians attacked beyond the Vistula.
In Italy we have moved forward south
of the road from Rimini to Bologna
and our troops are within 10 miles
of the latter city. Negro soldiers captured
2 small towns on the West Coast. The former
Governor of the Bank of Italy is being tried
today. He is accused to have transferred
Italy's gold to German banks and when
found guilty he will be shot in the back as a traitor.
