Inside Hungary the situation is tense. 1/3 rd of Ă–sel is in Russian hands. Methodical progress is being made in the advance on Bologna and advanced patrols are within 11 miles of the town. Mr. Alexander our Navy Minister said we have a mighty fleet in the Indian Ocean. The German fleet is still in the Baltic and therefore our Home Fleet must be kept ready. Since the beginning of the war 9000 escorted convoys have left or arrived in Britain and 99,6 % of all escorted ships have arrived safely. 2000 to 3000 Allied ships are on the sea everyday of the week. The Dumbarton Oaks Conference talks on the establishment of a World Security Organisation have ended and the various missions will report to their governments. By aircraft based in China and the South West Pacific Command 4 Japanese ship were sunk and another 4 damaged.
