guns are on higher positions on the edge of the isle
but their supply lines are under water.

in their advance north of Aachen. The attacks were
resumed this morning with powerful air support
and artillery and the infantry is fanning
out. Motor transport and barges were
attacked last night by Mosquitoes both in
Holland and the Rhineland. 5 miles southwest
of Metz the fort Driant has been taken.
The fort was burnt out with flamethrowers and
crude oil. The Germans report fierce tank battles
east of Nancy. In the Parray [?] forest and beyond
Épinal fresh gains were made. Around
Belfort there is still stubborn resistance.
Mosquitoes bombed Kassel last night
without loss. Lancasters and Halifaxes
escorted by Mosquitoes and Mustangs made
