The island is 100 square miles. No aerial

13 fighters are missing. Some fighters
may have landed in friendly territory.
The American 1st Army gained another
4 miles today notwithstanding heavy
rain and bitterly cold wind so that little
air support could be given. The motor road
has been reached. Correspondents report that
the Americans are through the main
Siegfried line here. N.W. of Trier advances
were also made and high ground near
Metz has been taken as well. Allied
troops are closing in on Den Bosch from 3
