begun. Curry led the attack and fighter opposition was intense. A strong force of Lancasters carried out the attack on the Walcheren dykes this afternoon without loss dropping 12000 pounders. It was done at high tide and the North Sea was flowing over the reclaimed land again. If the Germans cannot stop it the whole of the island and the enemy's positions may be flooded, The island is 100 square miles. No aerial combat took place today. Only a few enemy fighters were sighted. Daimler Benz factory is south of Karlsruhe. 11 bombers and 13 fighters are missing. Some fighters may have landed in friendly territory.
