Russian and Romanian troops are closing
in all around Transylvanian and are well
inside the Southern hip of it. Marshall Tito's

Battles of local importance are being fought
on the Eastern front. The Commander of the
Polish underground forces in Warsaw
said that the battle is rapidly going beyond human
endurance. Widespread air attacks are being

shipping in the Gulf of Martaban. In Burma
110 miles of the road south of Imphal have been
cleared. A Japanese destroyer near Hong Kong
was also sunk. Chester Wilmot reporting
on the importance of the Albert Canal
said the Germans made a strong show
along the line of the Canal in the hope
to stop us enlarging our bridgeheads.
The position is that whilst we moved our
airfields the Germans had an opportunity
to bring up reinforcements. A German
General captured said that V.2 is a "rainy
day". It is only since the Seine we meet such
resistance. The battle of the Rhine is being
