The Americans captured Liege yesterday.
The Canadians occupied Ostend. The 2nd
British Army strengthened and widened
their two bridgeheads across the Albert
Canal (one near Geel). The Germans fight a
sharp rearguard action. Ostend was captured
last night. The tactical air force is already
operating from Belgian fields. Yesterday
a big German horse drawn convoy was smashed
up completely opposite Flushing. Liege was
taken yesterday and the Americans are
already several miles beyond it which
means 20 miles from Aachen.
Patton's forces are across the Moselle at
Nancy and Metz but there is no further
news about them. However, they meet
stiff resistance. Le Creusot has been taken.
