Le Havre. The American First Army has liberated
Namur in its drive through Belgium
toward the German frontier. The American
Third Army is meeting stiff resistance
on the line of the Moselle between Metz and
Nancy. Our American correspondent
says General Patton's forces have joined
up with General Patch's 7th Army
coming up from the South. General
Patch's men were earlier reported well
beyond Macon in Burgundy.
Russia last night declared war on Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian cabinet after an all
night session this morning asked Moscow
for and armistice. According to the
Bulgarian radio German troops have
attacked Bulgarian units. Mr. Molotow
Soviet Foreign Commissar says negotiations with the
Romanian peace mission in Moscow
have not yet begun because Britain and
America have to be consulted.
The Hungarian radio states that fighting
has broken out on the Hungarian -
Romanian border.
The Russians are now over 100 miles
beyond Bucharest and not much more
