British 2nd Army troops have freed Arras.
One column is racing North toward
Lille. Canadian troops have entered
Dieppe and others were last reported on
the outskirts of Abbeville.
An American column has liberated
Verdun and is reported to have freed Saint-Mihiel
about 50 miles from Germany.
American pilots reported that the Germans
have flooded large areas between Antwerp
and Rotterdam.In the Rhone Valley
American forces are threatening to
outflank Lyon.
In Italy the 8th Army have penetrated the
outer defences of the Gothic Line to a
depth of a thousand yards at 3
separate points. More than 500
Allied bombers from Italy yesterday
attacked 8 railway bridges and marshalling
yards in Central Europa.
The Russians have cleared 60 more
places in Southern Romania and
taken two thousand prisoners. It is
announced in Bucharest that the
Romanian army has begun operations
in Transylvania.
