border. Our troops are well beyond Amiens.
Canadian troops are within 12 miles of Dieppe.
The Bulgarian Government has
resigned. In France the German front is
rapidly breaking up. Verdun which we entered
is the most forward French fortress. It is 20
miles from the Belgian frontier and 50 miles
from the German at Saarbrücken.
The Americans are also in Sedan which is
10 miles from the Belgian border. Canadian,
Belgian and Dutch troops have broken
out of the Rouen bridgehead. Le Havre is
also being threatened. We are well across
the Somme, meeting slight opposition
and seeing no tanks at all. On the
road from Amiens to Abbeville we
destroyed 100 transport vehicles and
damaged 150 more. 1/3 of 1/2 of the flying
bomb sites have now been eliminated.
General Eberbach had his breakfast when
captured. A German correspondent was
also taken and he said that von
Kluge had committed suicide.
Late news has just come in that we
are within 3 miles from Dieppe and 12
miles south of Arras (Atrecht) which
meant 25 miles beyond Amiens.
