American First Army units have crossed

the outskirts of Sedan, 5 miles from the
Belgian frontier.
Far to the South East American Third
Army columns have reached the
Argonne forest about 70 miles from Germany.
U.K. armoured forces have covered 40
miles in 12 hours to liberate Amiens
and secure a bridgehead across the
Somme.
Canadian forces have freed Rouen
and were last reported only 17 miles
from Dieppe.
