northeast of Krakow. In Northern Burma
Allied troops have captured Myitkyina
which has been in Japanese hands for over
2 years.
In New Guinea Australian troops have
smashed 4 more attempts by the Japanese
to break out of the Wewak trap.
Hundreds of American and RAF
heavy bombers from Britain attacked
many targets yesterday including
rail yards in Germany and flying bomb
bases in France.
American heavies from Italy went
for targets in South West Germany.
Flying bombs again came over Southern
England including the London area
during the night.

The Americans are still pouring into
Brittany without meeting serious opposition
and the Germans are withdrawing their
left flank. On the British front of 25 miles and
stretching from Vire to Caen we are meeting
stiff resistance. In Brittany St. Malo has
been quite cut off. Fighting is particularly fierce
