the Yorkshire coalfields to strike which was called to begin the sixth of November the Minister for Fuel and Power met the miners today and it was agreed to recommend the Council to call off the strike. The 6th Trade Union Conference of the war was held and ended today at Blackpool. Refugees from Southern and Eastern England and the greater London area must stay where they are. Frederick Allen introduced war reports after 9 o'clock news. A message was recorded by the Yugoslav Minister of the Interior on the event of the liberation of Belgrade and he explained what this victory means. General MacArthur's proclamation to the people of the Philippines that he has come back as promised was also given. Also a report from the B.B.C.'s Washington correspondent on the strategic outline of the operations.
