the bombing of buildings where a German
General was having a conference was
given. The conference was ready to begin
at 11.05 and 24 500 lbs bombs were dropped
by the planes which dived down from
8000 feet to rooftop height. At the end of
the attack the three buildings ceased
to exist. A Czech correspondent
who spent 4 days with the Americans
advancing in Aachen said that the
German civilian now express their
hatred of Nazis.
Streets were blazing. In almost every
street buildings were on fire. Into
buildings from which sniping was
done the Americans threw incendiaries.
In a shelter a German soldier refused to
open the doors but later on he came out
demanding special treatment which
the Americans did not wish to give and
they would attack with flamethrowers
if they did not come out. The civilians
said why don't you deliver us
quickly from these devils and they used
the bloodhounds, bandits,
gangsters etc. against their beloved
Führer. In Aachen we could see the
breakdown of a nation after 5 years
