The bombing of the dam prevents the Germans

Russian troops are less than 50 miles
from the Latvia port of Libau, less than
40 miles from Memel and 35 miles from
Tilsit, between 15-20 miles from Riga in a

Narev. North of Warsaw advances are reported
on a 70 miles front into Hungary.
Budapest is still 75 miles away. In the
past few days the Russians took 4000
prisoners in Hungary. Excellent progress
is reported south of the Danube toward
the railway from Niš to Belgrade. The
Germans surrounded at Zaječar have
been wiped out. Yesterday the Germans lost
156 tanks and 31 planes on the Eastern
