Allied troops are in Luxembourg and in
Holland. In Belgium we have got to Louvain
and we are now only 3 miles from Boulogne.
In the South we are 35 miles beyond Lyon.
In Italy we are within 6 miles of Rimini.
The Russians have crossed the Transylvanian
Alps. They also took Brașov. 500 Flying
Fortresses and Liberators today went to
Germany. The Prime Minister of Luxembourg
announced that Allied troops had entered
his country today. Last night Breda in
Holland had been reached and our troops
also cleared the dock area of Antwerp last
night. It is estimated that the port has
not suffered much. There are reports that
German officers are leaving their men
and some of these have been found
drunk. Apparently they have sufficient
liquor. This morning our troops were 3
miles from Boulogne. Reports that Germany
itself is being shelled by the Americans or
that the Americans are in Germany are
not confirmed. In the South of France there
was no serious opposition yesterday.
Prisoners taken now total more than
65000. In Italy the Germans switched
