St. Nazaire to Lille. Mr. Churchill went across to Normandy yesterday and visited the Allied troops. General Eisenhower has also again visited the battle area. RAF bombers were out last night over Germany and occupied territory. German radio stations say Cologne was bombed soon after midnight. Paris radio has reported attacks on areas south of the French capital. Little more than an hour ago the whole German radio network went off the air. In Italy 5th Army advance guards were last reported approaching a town on the coast about 70 miles beyond Rome. 8th Army troops were pushing up the Eastern side of Lake Bolsena in the direction of Orvieto. On Germany's Eastern front Red Army tanks and shock troops are pouring through the breach in the Finnish defenses on the Karelian Isthmus. London had two brief alerts during the night. The first for nearly 7 weeks. One raider was brought down.
