The Government have decided on increase in
pay and allowances to members of the forces and
their families. This was announced by Mr. Churchill
at question time in the Commons this morning.
Details will be given in the evening bulletins and
reports in a white paper which will be available
later in the day.
Shortly before 8 o'clock this morning formations
of fighters and bombers went out over the Channel.
The German warning system reports Allied
planes over Central Germany.
Mosquitoes attacked Cologne last night and
mines were also laid, all without loss.
A short alert was sounded in London last
night but no bombs fell. Later on in the night
some German planes were over coastal districts
of Southern England. Some damage was caused
and there were a small number of casualties
