In Russia the Germans are fighting
hard against the flanks in the Leningrad
sector. The Russians are now 30
miles from Leningrad and the escape
from the Germans from the East
has been blocked. The Leningrad-Moscow
railway has been reached by the Russians
in various places. The Russians are
beyond pushing Novgorod and Lake
Ilmen. The Germans themselves
report that bitter struggles
continue. In the Ukraine the Germans
resumed their counterattacks
against Vatutin's army and
claim successes but the Russians say
they have repelled the German counterattacks.
The Russians have now published
a full report about the shooting
of Polish soldiers at Katyn.
A Russian Commission has
inspected the graves at Katyn and there
were found to be some 11000 bodies there
